SOPHOMORES/SENIOR  PTSD Foundation of America - CAMP HOPE located at 9724 Derrington Road, Houston, TX,  provides interim housing, counseling,  job placement, etc for our returning veterans.  This is a wonderful faith based organization.  Please contact them at www.ptsdusa.net

SOPHOMORES/SENIOR:  THE Abbey on Westminister  Visit this Alzheimer's facility and spend your time with seniors playing bingo & other games, reading, chatting, walking, & even singing!  Contact Judith at 281-556-6020 for weekend schedules or Veronica if you'd like to work on a weekday.

FRESHMAN/SENIOR :  Star of Hope Randy and Kathy Tabor Transitional Living Center located one block west of Hwy. 288 between Old Spanish Trail and Yellowstone at 6801 Ardmore, Houston, TX 77054.  This is a great place to go in a group, by yourself, or with your family to feed the homeless.  713-440-5380.     http://www.sohmission.org/netcommunity/page.aspx?pid=241

FRESHMAN/SENIOR:  Houston Food Bank.  This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the poor!  You will work on the assembly lines, sorting and checking donated food items for delivery to families.  These are 4 hour shifts (8-12 or 1-5).  Some evenings available.  Visit their website at http://www.houstonfoodbank.org/volunteer/  for information.

An assisted living facility for individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia related illnesses.  Volunteers work one-on-one with the residents in a cozy, home like setting.

An independent living center for senior citizens, volunteers visit and spend time with seniors.

Offers a home away from home for families with children being treated at a Texas Medical Center institution for cancer or other serious illnesses.   Individual opportunities are for students 18yrs. old.  Group opportunities in the Family Activity Center allow students aged 16 yrs old.  Must have an adult present. Offers clothing, meals, and showers to homeless.  You can help with greeting and intake of clients, serving meals, distributing clothes, etc.  Be sure and let them know that you need to provide direct service to their clients – no administrative or clerical or sorting, etc.  Also see www.beaconhomeless.org for additional information.

Serve Food - Serves three meals a day, 365 days each year, at all three facilities. What an opportunity to encourage and uplift as you hand a meal tray to our clients. This can be scheduled for an individual volunteer on a regular basis or for a small group of 10 on a regular or one-time basis. Volunteers help set-up, serve and clean-up. Lunch and dinner shifts available throughout the week.

FRESHMAN/SENIOR: Loaves & Fishes    
Serve meals to the homeless.   Please note that hours for this service opportunity will be calculated as follows:  Saturdays 4 hours, Sundays 5 hours.  Unfortunately, there has been confusion regarding the number of hours actually worked & recorded.

FRESHMAN/SENIOR: Habitat for Humanity - help to build houses for the poor.

JUNIOR/SENIOR:  Houston Coalition & 40 Days for Life- a local pro-life organization that organizes the March for Life in Houston and offers opportunities to "stand and pray" outside Planned Parenthood.

FRESHMAN/SENIOR:  St. Vincent de Paul Society - various churches in the area offer food pantries, thrift stores, warehouse. You will be serving the needy in the Archdiocese.

FRESHMAN/SENIOR:  CASA JUAN DIEGO - work with Spanish speaking immigrants and refugees to provide shelter, food, clothing, and medical services. 713-869-7376.  www.cjd.org

SOPHOMORE/SENIOR: Hospitals that allow you to work directly with the patients.

JUNIOR/SENIOR: Tutoring those experiencing poverty through an approved school or organization.

JUNIOR/SENIOR:  Vacation Bible School, Lifeteen Core Team, CCE teacher for your local parish.

ALL GRADE LEVELS:  Catholic Summer Immersion (CSI) sponsored by the Archdiocese. This 5 day camp is held every summer in June. 

SOPHOMORE/JUNIOR/SENIOR:  Any summer camp with the focus of caring for the disabled....Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism, etc.

SOPHOMORE/JUNIOR/SENIOR:  THE CENTER FOR HEARING AND SPEECH.  A full-service resource in Houston that teaches children with hearing loss to speak rather than use sign language.  Located at 3636 West Dallas. 713-523-3633. www.centerhearingandspeech.org.
