Pope John XXIII High School firmly believes that the role of faith is essential and has a tremendous impact on all aspects of our lives. Our dynamic campus ministry program is committed to playing a vital role in forming the minds and hearts of our students. This program involves and serves the entire faculty and staff, our student body, and all of our families.

The liturgy, particularly the celebration of the Eucharist, is the source and summit of our lives.  As such, we celebrate all-school Masses every week with full involvement of our entire school community.  Our regular liturgies include school wide penance services twice a year, regular opportunities for individual confession, adoration, and morning prayer in our chapel.  Our students are actively involved in every aspect of our praise and worship of God.

Recognizing that love of God and “A Eucharist that does not pass over into the concrete practice of love is intrinsically fragmented” we promote lives of service through our dynamic Works of Mercy service program (Deus Caritas Est 14).  This comprehensive service program includes service to the school, Church, and secular world.  As they develop and express a love of God and love of neighbor, through works of mercy, our students strive to become beacons of light for the world.

In order to spread, live, and love the Gospel, we must know the Gospel.  To foster continuing education in the faith, we provide various opportunities for students to foster their spiritual and intellectual development of the faith.  This includes yearly class retreats, “Theology Thursday”, “Life Savers Club” and various vocation awareness events.  Building on and supplementing our rigorous academic program, we provide regular formation for our students, faculty, and parents.

We share the same excitement and hope that Pope Benedict XVI has in our young men and women.  Speaking to the youth of Brazil, Pope Benedict XVI states that youth ought to live life “with enthusiasm and with joy, but most of all, with a sense of responsibility…Christ is calling you to be saints…I see you as Christ sees you; with a gaze of love and trust…do not waste your youth.  Do not seek to escape from it.  Live it intensely.  The Church needs you, as young people, to manifest to the world the face of Jesus Christ, visible in the Christian community” (5,7).

We at Pope John are truly blessed, with students, family, and staff who live their faith lives intensely and responsibly.  May God continue to bless our school community as we strive to faithfully live the call to love God and neighbor with all of our mind and heart.
